On 18 February, a Café GIPS was held at the Comparative Medicine and Bioimage Centre of Catalonia (CMCiB) of the Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP) to discuss alternative models to animal experimentation. The meeting served to discuss with experts about different models that can be based on advanced cell cultures, organoids derived from human tissues, 'organ-on-chip' systems that reproduce organ functions in microdevices, or computational simulations that model physiological behavior with great precision.
