IGTP is associated with one of the major university hospitals in the Barcelona area, the Germans Trias i Pujol Hospital, and is part of the Can Ruti biomedical Campus. IGTP is a CERCA centre and is also accredited as a centre of excellence by Instituto de Salud Carlos III (ISCIII) and is in charge of coordinating the management and scientific strategy of the Campus, working in close collaboration with the other centres located there.

With over 7,000 healthcare professionals and approximately 1,250 researchers working on the Campus, Can Ruti offers a wealth of opportunities for research collaboration across a broad spectrum of disciplines, from basic biomedical and clinical research to innovative and translational medicine.

The diversity of ongoing research projects highlights the strength of the Campus model, bringing together specialised biomedical research centres with expertise in different areas of medicine alongside a leading teaching hospital. This close collaboration fosters synergies between research and clinical practice, helping to advance scientific knowledge and accelerate its translation into improved healthcare.
