About us

The Comparative Medicine and Bioimage Centre of Catalonia (CMCiB) is a unique preclinical research centre designed to enable translational medicine and support different phases of preclinical biomedical research and innovation, medical device development, and advanced training programmes. It is part of the Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP) and is located on the Can Ruti Campus in Badalona.

CMCiB's state-of-the-art facilities have been meticulously designed to facilitate research in biomedicine, from very early stages to pre-commercial R&D development, and up to advanced studies required by regulatory authorities (Good Laboratory Practices), adhering to strict standards of quality, sustainability, and research within the 3R principles.

The centre now serves as a pivotal tech-transfer tool within the international health ecosystem, enabling public-private collaborations and the translation of research outcomes to patients or the market. As a highly international, multidisciplinary, and collaborative facility, it serves researchers, users, and clients from both public institutions and companies worldwide.

By acting as a liaison between scientists, the medical community, and industry through a highly equipped infrastructure and experienced staff, CMCiB aims to become a reference centre for preclinical research and biomedical innovation, transforming scientific discoveries into new technologies or therapies that promote a healthier community.
