IIS IGTP secures three grants to boost nursing research

The Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP), accreditated as an Instituto de Investigación Sanitaria (IIS) - Health Research Institute - by Instituto de Salud Carlos III (ISCIII) and a CERCA centre of the Government of Catalonia, coordinates research management and scientific strategy within the Can Ruti Campus, working closely with the other research institutions on-site. In this context, the IIS IGTP has secured three grants to fund nursing intensification contracts within the framework of the Strategic Plan for Health Research and Innovation (PERIS) 2022-2027 from the Department of Health of the Catalan Government.

These grants aim to facilitate research activities for professionals working in centres within the Integrated Public Healthcare System of Catalonia (SISCAT) and the public health sector. They enable the hiring or appointment of substitute staff to take over the clinical duties of the grant recipients for two years. The goal of these grants is to increase the critical mass of professionals engaged in research, fostering the generation of new knowledge applicable to clinical practice and directly benefiting patients.

The IIS IGTP professionals who have received these grants, each worth €75,000, are:

  • Laura Cabrera, from the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO).
  • Miriam Moreno, from the Germans Trias i Pujol University Hospital (HUGTiP).
  • Anna Moreno, from the Germans Trias i Pujol University Hospital (HUGTiP).

All three are members of the Nursing Care Research Group (NURECARE) at IGTP, a research team established in early 2021 to support and enhance nursing care research within HUGTiP services.
