Researchers from the Sextra project visit IGTP as part of the CORE Program

From 4 to 7 February, the Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP) hosted a meeting of researchers from the "Hub de recherche communautaire de Can Ruti", an initiative led by CEEISCAT-IGTP, Coalition Plus, and Fundació Sida i Societat. This network is part of IGTP's Transversal Program in Public Health and Primary Healthcare (CORE) and includes researchers from Ecuador and Bolivia who are members of Coalition Plus. These researchers regularly collaborate with the CEEISCAT and DxEpiPath research groups, both of which are part of the CORE program.

The central focus of the meeting was the visit of researchers from the international Sextra project, an initiative by Coalition Plus aimed at improving epidemiological surveillance and prevention strategies for HIV and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in various countries across Europe and Latin America. Specifically, the project studies male sex work.

The meeting featured presentation sessions, training activities, discussions, and group work, allowing participants to exchange knowledge and experiences based on ongoing projects led by Sextra and CEEISCAT. In particular, efforts were made to enhance the capacity for scientific interpretation and writing within organisations from Ecuador and Bolivia.

The event strengthened synergies between teams, reinforcing international collaboration in HIV and STI research. Through initiatives like this, IGTP's CORE program continues to promote cooperation between research groups and institutions from different countries, with the aim of generating applied knowledge and ensuring the transfer and dissemination of research findings across academic, community, and institutional settings.
